WARGAME with die-cut counters :
"The time for looking back is over…” With this order of the day dated September 6, 1914, Joffre established the doctrinal framework for the Allied counter-offensive: hold the captured ground and regain the initiative at all costs. The Battle of the Marne, 1914 aims to simulate, on a strategic scale, this decisive operational sequence during which the German advance was halted and then forced to retreat, marking the failure of the Schlieffen Plan.
The system follows in the footsteps of the “Campaigns of the Republic” series (VV108, VV177), while significantly increasing its scale. The player is placed at an operational command level, where joint coordination and tempo management take precedence over fine tactics.
The Battle of the Marne, 1914 is designed for players seeking a short but intense simulation focused on operational decision-making. In ten turns, the player is faced with a complete campaign dynamic, where mastering the tempo and concentration of forces determines the outcome.
1 combat factor = 1 infantry division, 1 cavalry brigade, 10 artillery batteries, or 4 machine gun batteries.
